SOMOS VISIBLES—commissioned by Art+Action as part it it’s COME TO YOUR CENSUS campaign to incentivize participation in the Census count within LatinX and marginalized communities. With the generous support of Levi’s— artist Arleene Correa Valencia and Ana Teresa Fernández created an ongoing project that takes a political stance on visibility through the use of high visibility ready-to-wear safety gear present throughout many labor industries. When Covid created a massive shut down, this project was taken into the streets, local markets, and even into a vineyard into the middle of the night to help count undocumented workers. Somos Visibles was featured in YBCA’s art and civic experience Come to Your Census: Who Counts in America?,
